How would you describe your company?
Sweet & Stoked is a Nelson based ice-pop company dedicated to bringing you the freshest, selection of natural frozen treats. All flavors are handmade by us, locally, in small batches using only the freshest fruit and dairy and natural sweeteners. Our varieties were created to keep you feeling great and frosty in the summer heat of the Kootenays that we all love so much!!
How long have you been crafting Ice Pops?
What motivated you to start?
I’ve always wanted to be a business owner and after a bunch of brainstorming with loved ones ice-pops just seemed like the most fun thing to sell. I liked the idea of riding around with my ice-pop bike ‘Dickie-Dee’ style, like the kind we bought ice cream treats from as kids. Then it the idea of Sweet & Stoke developed into much more: a festival attraction, a way to express myself creatively, and an opportunity to serve my community and give back the way it has given to me since I arrived here.
What are some of your greatest joys?
When people come looking for a Sweet and Stoked ice-pop, because they have had one before or because they heard about them from a friend or on social media. I love when I get to sell them myself at a festival or market, and see the look on people’s faces when they try them! I love when people are happy and seeing them smile!
What are some of your greatest challenges?
I guess time management was the biggest challenge: figuring out how long it would take to make things, how much would be needed for which contracts or events, and what I was able to commit to in a season without burning out.
What is your vision for Sweet & Stoked?
The possibilities are endless. Sweet and Stoked is just getting started! Our first goal is to sell enough single serving pops to save up for our 4 pack boxes! Keep looking out for them!
Why is local food and/or local purchasing important to you?
Keeping it in the community is what it’s all about! If we can all support each other and help each other out we will be stronger as a whole!
If you could deliver a message directly to Co-op members/customers, what would it be?
Thank you for all the support!!! We are beyond stoked to have our pops available for you at our beloved CO-OP!!!! Stay frosty my amazing mountain community, much love and mad respect!!!
