Cristina Borgogelli (pronounced Borg’o’Jelly) is a first generation Canadian of Italian descent who honours her culture through food by teaching people the art of pasta making.
Cristina hails from a strong Italian community in Northern Ontario and also lived, worked and studied fashion and design in Italy in her early twenties. Her parents come from Le Marche region on the east coast central part of the “boot”. When they immigrated to Canada they brought with them their dialect, culinary specialties and other aspects of their heritage.
Cristina has a degree in Italian Studies from Laurentian University and was a language lab leader to first year students. She also taught Italian for the Continuing Education department at College of the Rockies for seven years. Cristina started Tonerelli’s Pasta Adventures to help facilitate learning about Italian culture through food by connecting ingredients, language and Italian history in a fun, communal atmosphere. Cristina invites you to join her on this culinary adventure as you delve into a staple food in the everyday Italian way of life.
The name Tonerelli’s is a combination of Cristina’s husband’s last name Toner and her last named Borgogelli combined.
