Want to help save the bees?
There are two opportunities to help save Canadian pollinators this week.
- Sign this petition.
- Write a letter to Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency by March 19th (scroll down past “Sign the Petition” to find the Wilderness Committee’s letter writing tool).
Please feel free to use the letter below or get creative and write your own!
To whom it may concern,
Proof that neonicotinoids (neonics) are bee-killing pesticides and causing worldwide bee colony collapse is piling up. Bees and other pollinators are struggling to survive in a land contaminated by toxic neonics.
I call for Health Canada and its Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) to ban all uses and applications of clothianidin and thiamethoxam pesticides (both of which are neonics). The new proposals for their use are weak; additional labeling and “suggested” ways of use will not save our pollinators.
I urge you to please ban all neonicotinoids in Canada. We rely on pollination of our food – without bees, farmers will suffer to a greater extent than they would from a ban on neonics. In order to ensure long-term food security, farming jobs and the overall health of our environment, we need a complete ban on both clothianidin and thiamethoxam.
Thank you for your consideration,
